Our Carbon Report
At Alara, we measure the carbon embedded in our products so we can understand our impact and reduce it over time. This page sets out our latest figures and the research informing our approach.
Our approach to carbon removal
Alara funds Inga agroforestry in the Ecuadorian Amazon, working from the science set out by Professor Martin Lukac. His research shows that Inga trees rebuild degraded soil and lock away carbon through tree growth, soil organic carbon, while helping farmers stop clearing new rainforest. In his analysis, a maturing Inga tree which Alara helps grow can sequester 250kg of CO2e over a 20-year cycle. See the documents below for the full research and Professor Lukac’s profile.

Looking ahead
Our ambition is to keep reducing the carbon embedded in our products and to be transparent about our progress.
